I’ve been listening to music my whole life.  I started as a musician, then I figured out pretty quickly that there was a whole ocean of musicians way better and more interesting than me. So I pivoted to being – as Nick Hornby famously said – a professional appreciator, buying vinyl, then cassettes, then vinyl again, then CDs, then vinyl again.  But to listen to them, not acquiring them for the sake of having a rare object.  I’ve got about 2000 records and CDs–god knows how many pieces of digital music–and opinions on most of them.  I listen to anything interesting – indie, punk, rock, soul, jazz, bluegrass, R&B.  As long as there’s some genuine spark of creativity in a piece of music, I’m game.  I’m an audiophile, but a practical audiophile; my music has to sound great, but nobody should be spending $100/ft for a speaker cable.  Nobody.

Maybe you’re here because you love music, probably on vinyl.  Maybe you’re a crate-digger, or maybe you’ve just gotten your first record player (or want to get one.)  Maybe you haven’t heard of Barrence Whitfield and The Savages (why not?), or you want to hear about the latest from Sharon Van Etten.

If any of the above rings true, you’re in the right place.
